Our Story
Late one night at Japan House...
Emily and Joey met at Japan House at the University of Illinois. Emily went after her mom mentioned the event. Joey went due to being in the Japanese Culture Club at Parkland College. As is custom, Emily arrived early while Joey showed up a bit late.
Joey noticed Emily first as her good looks and volunteering to take part in the rice smashing demonstration portion of the mochi making process caught his eye. Although he had previous given up on dating and told his friends, family, and therapist as much that day, Emily still popped up on his radar.
Seemingly unfortunately at the time, due to the crowds, Joey could not catch Emily in time. He and Emily were both outside taking in the view of the moon while a band from Japan House played music. Eventually Joey started to talk wi th the then person in charge of Japan House named Michael. They got to talkign about Japanese attire such as Kimonons and Yuktas. Emily nearby was intriguide by this and joined in the conversation. After a few minutes, Michael floated away while Emily and Joey continued to talk. During the course of this conversation, Emily asked Joey for his number. This was unexpected for Joey and he gave her his number. Soon after, Emily asked if Joey wanted to go to a bar to which Joey said yes! Emily later clarified this as a blind date since she could not make out what Joey looked like.
Their bar meetup took them to Pour Brothers where they had some drinks and played some games. In the first game, skeeball, Emily declared she is not that good and it has been a while. Like any good pool hustler type person she then went on and took Joey to the cleaners for game after that.
Later on Joey realized that he had taken a picture of Emily while at the event.
